| On
March 15, 2002 Thomas Built Buses placed a Type D bus with a
GVWR exceeding 18,000 pounds on top of a Type A Minotour school
bus to demonstrate the strength of our Minotour bus. A cradle
was designed to safely hold the Type D bus in position and
equally distribute the weight over the Minotour. |
|
|
The cradle was
mounted to the top of the Minotour. |
|
|
The Type D bus
was outfitted with reinforced bumpers where the lifting cables
were attached. The crane lifted the Type D bus and placed it on
the cradle on the top of the Minotour. |
|
|
The lifting
cables were relaxed to allow the full weight of the bus to rest
on top of the Minotour. The Minotour's suspension was allowed to
compress approximately 3 inches before the frame came to rest on
the steel support stands, which prevented suspension or tire
failure. |
